Here I am at Invention Convention Florida, getting our amazing judges ready to meet and be inspired by over 150 K–12 inventors at the University of South Florida!
The University of South Florida recently hosted 147 young inventors from across Florida for the 2025 Invention Convention, the state-level showcase of Invention Convention Worldwide. Students from grades K-12 presented creative, real-world solutions—from microplastic filtration systems and padded sports gear to germ-fighting slime and toilet sensor blockers. Standout inventors like Mahi Patel, Zoe Kidd, and Hailey Crotteau earned top honors and invitations to nationals. The event, supported by USF Research & Innovation and the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame, highlights the state’s rising innovation talent, with many students already earning patents, licensing awards, and national recognition. Beyond competition, the convention fosters future STEM leaders, encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking.
